Trondheim City Council experienced problems with the sound isolation in the NAV public customer reception area in Trondheim, Norway. Knut Møller in Trondheim City Council contacted DeAmp to find out whether DeAmp's innovative metal ceiling absorbers could improve the acoustical conditions.

In NAV's customer reception area in Trondheim there is an extensive use of customer friendly and visually open-plan landscapes. Such solutions create challenges for the acoustical conditions within the building where confidential conversations are taking place. The consultants experienced problems talking to their clients and Knut Møller in Trondheim City Council contacted DeAmp to find a solution to the problem. The consultancy company Cowi, in co-operation with DeAmp, advised Trondheim City Council to raise the separating walls between the customer compartments and install DeAmp's aluminum panels in the ceiling.

DeAmp's aluminum panels are easy to install and the smooth, next to intact surface facilitates the exploitation of daylight. In addition they are completely free of fibers and contribute to a healthy and sustainable indoor environment. In this project manufacturing and project engineering were completed in co-operation with the Norwegian company Meta AS. DeAmp's aluminum ceiling was installed as clip-in panels and adjusted to fit with excisting ventilation systems.

The renovation project in NAV's customer reception area in Trondheim was very successful. Sverre Stensby in Cowi concludes that sound transmission in the facilities was significantly reduced and the reverberation time was measured to between 0,4 and 0,6 seconds, which is very good.
